What is Rajasthani Hand Fan?
The Rajasthani Hand Fan is an implement used to induce airflow for the purpose of cooling or refreshing oneself. It still used in small villages in India. Any broad, flat surface waved Back- and-forth will create a small airflow and therefore can be considered a rudimentary Hand Fan. But generally, purpose-made Hand Fan are shaped like a sector of a circle and made of a thin cloth and wood. The movement of a hand Fan provides Cooling by increasing the airflow over the skin which in turn increases the evaporation rate of sweat droplets on the Skin. This evaporation has a cooling effect due to the latent heat of evaporation of water.
About Sandalwood:
Sandalwood is a class of woods from trees in the genus Santalum. The woods are heavy, yellow, and fine-grained, and unlike many other aromatic woods, they retain their fragrance for decades. Santalum album, or Indian sandalwood, is a small tropical tree, and is the most commonly known source of sandalwood. Indian sandalwood is very sacred in the Hindu Ayurveda and is known in Sanskrit as vhandana. In Hinduism and Ayurveda, sandalwood is thought to bring one closer to the divine. Thus, it is one of the most used holy elements in Hindu and Vedic societies.
